Analysis of Non-Idealities on CMOS Passive Mixers

چکیده
In the current state of art, WiFi-alike standards require achieving a high Image Rejection Ratio (IRR) while having low power consumption. Thus, quadrature structures based on passive ring mixers offer an attractive and widely used solution, as they can achieve IRR being block. However, it is not easy for designer to know when simple scheme enough should aim double structure approach, latter improve performance at cost requiring more area complexity. This study focuses IRR, which crucially depends symmetry between I Q branches. Non-idealities (component mismatches, parasitics, etc.) will degrade ideal balance by affecting mixer and/or following/previous stages. paper analyses effect imbalances, providing constraints obtaining 40 dB in case conversion from one-hundred-megahertz signal five-gigahertz range (upconversion) vice versa (downconversion) schemes. All simulations were carried out with complete device models 65 nm standard CMOS technology also post-layout Monte Carlo analysis was included mismatch analysis. The final section includes guidelines help designers choose most adequate each case.

Analysis of CMOS Transconductance Amplifiers for Sampling Mixers
In this paper the transfer function of a system with windowed current integration is discussed. This kind of integration is usually used in a sampling mixer and the current is generated by a transconductance amplifier (TA). The parasitic capacitance (Cp) and the output resistance of the TA (Ro,TA) before the sampling mixer heavily affect the performance. Calculations based on a model including ...
متن کاملEffects of mismatch on CMOS monolithic mixers image rejection
Image rejection ratio in CMOS double balanced mixers is strongly dependent on the balance between its branches. The influence of the mismatches is analyzed theoretically at the system and circuit level. Guidelines that show the maximum acceptable mismatch to meet a given image rejection ratio specification and experimental results are presented.
متن کاملNoise in Current-Commutating CMOS Mixers
A noise analysis of current-commutating CMOS mixers, such as the widely used CMOS Gilbert cell, is presented. The contribution of all internal and external noise sources to the output noise is calculated. As a result, the noise figure can be rapidly estimated by computing only a few parameters or by reading them from provided normalized graphs. Simple explicit formulas for the noise introduced ...

In this paper various mixers are defined for CDMA applications . Using CMOS makes easier for mixers to act on same chip with other digital and analog circuits . The topologies we are defining are dual gate mixers , back gate mixers, single balanced current switching mixers and back end mixers . The backgate mixer utilizes the inherent lateral bipolar transistor in CMOS. Device simulations were ...
